Incoterms

Also: Incoterms, FOB, CIF, FCA, DAP

International commercial trade terms defining who pays shipping, insurance, and customs costs in a paper trade deal.

Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) are published by the International Chamber of Commerce and define the responsibilities of buyer and seller in cross-border trade. Common paper industry Incoterms are FOB (free on board), CIF (cost, insurance, freight), FCA (free carrier), and DAP (delivered at place).

Paper contracts always specify an Incoterm. The choice has material cost implications. FOB Scandinavian port is the most common reference for European-origin bulk paper. DAP buyer port is more common for intercontinental deals.
